Tegan Judith Saffigna

Tegan Judith Saffigna is a very gentle, loving little lady, who loves nothing more than a cuddle and a song. If you were ever having a sad day, a Tegan hug would be a sure-fire way to improve your mood. Being around Tegan you can sometimes forget how monumental it is for her to be doing the things she is doing. Tegan is just so courageous and takes most things in her stride.

She'll walk up and down the house like she owns it, but you forget her eyesight is extremely limited. Guided by the light is almost a very good way to describe her personality. Tegan is Full of light, colour, a distinct love for John Denver and Fleetwood Mac as well as love of her family.

Tegan is a little bit trickier to communicate with for obvious reasons. However, she will still use her tone of voice to indicate to you if something is wrong or if she just simply wants your attention or if she is happy. Her distinct smile and laugh have become iconic and it’s something that never gets old. Just like her sister she has mastered challenge after challenge and continues to defy the odds every day.

Tegan loves the outdoors, she loves the sunshine, the fresh air and walking. Tegan is hardly ever still. Her independence is her ability to walk and decide where in the house she goes and which window she is standing at to seek the light and warmth of the sun. Tegan loves to go sailing, which she does with her day program. She also likes to ride a horse with special support. Water play is a much-loved activity as is swimming in the pool. Her love and enjoyment with water play is a sight to behold. The smile and enjoyment are priceless.

Tegan recently acquired an electric piano thanks to the son of a local friend who heard about Tegan’s joy in tapping on the keys and the sound it makes. This brings her endless amounts of joy. She has a definite style of playing this piano. The music she creates is unusually eerie and has been likened to the sounds of Phantom of the Opera!

Tegan is also very much a creature of habit. She loves routine and hates sudden change. Good luck if you try to alter the pathway she has decided on or get her to do something that is not in her routine!

Tegan for the most part is happy but her nights are very unsettled and disturbed. She is often awake and very noisy in the night. Her current challenge is settling and sleeping through the night. She often keeps the whole house awake, except her big brother who sleeps upstairs. Lucky him. We are all putting our heads together to problem solve to try and ascertain what is causing this issue.

Every day there are new challenges. Tegan is so stoic and mostly patient with us all as we try to help her navigate her life's journey.
